Jamail starts with an alert "minimal requirements are not fullfilled" and terminates.
- Jamail 3 checks at startup if there is an Internet Explorer, Version higher than 5.5 installed. It is used for mail preview.
Sometimes I get this error message while mailing out a project:
005-02-03 12:07:05 [CRIT] ERR [550]: .....email.... ... Relaying denied
-
"Relaying denied" is a message from your smtp server, because you did not authenticate
before sending out the mails.
In your profile, please select "SMTP Authentification" (or the older POP3-Authentication) and fill in your username and password.
Jamail blocks the internet connection because it generates mails too fast
-
Each profile (see profile settings) may define, how many mails per minute should be sent, and
how long Jamail pauses after an adjustable quantity of mails.
Calculated examples:
You are connected via a high speed internet connection 6000/640 KBit. It means that you may sent out 640 KBit of data per second (approx. 70 KByte/seconed) to your mail server.
In section 4 (Start) Jamail roughly calculates the size of one Mail. In our example, we assume you want to sent out a mail with size 5 KBytes each. For your connection, you will be able to sent out 14 Mails per Minute to your Server.
More examples:
- 1000/192 KBit, 5 KByte eMail: 4 mails/minute
- 2000/256 KBit, 5 KByte eMail: 5 mails/minute
- 6000/640 KBit, 2 KByte eMail: 35 mails/minute
- 6000/640 KBit, 10 KByte eMail: 7 mails/minute
Jamail is able to sent thousands of Mails per second - if you have an appropriate connection to your mail server.
After sending out some mails, Jamail aborts
-
There might be several causes for this behaviour. First, your mail server might be not able
to sent out too much mails in a short time (please check your mail server log, or try to turn
down the sent out rate in your profile.
Maybe you have installed a virus scanner, that checks for activity on port 25 (SMTP) and tears down the connection, for it assumes a virus breakout.
I have a html mail with pictures in. Jamail sends the mails out with no problem, even the log contains no errors. The preview correctly shows the pictures. But, the recipients just get a placeholder with a red cross!
-
While coding a html mail, spaces are translated into html, too (%20, in the case of spaces). If your path
to the picture contains blanks, Jamail will not be able to find it.
Generally, do not use blanks or other special chars in filenames.
